Recognition of credits for work and professional experience

General information:
Recognition may be given for a minimum of 6 ECTS credits (1,600 hours of work).
For bachelor’s degrees, recognition may be given for a maximum of 12 optional ECTS credits, including credits for curricular placements or directed assignments.
For master’s degrees, the maximum number of optional credits that may be recognised (including credits for curricular placements or directed assignments) is stipulated in the curriculum for each degree. The upper limits are as follows:
- Master's degree in Industrial Engineering (MUEI): 18 ECTS credits.
- Master's degree in Automatic Control and Robotics (MUAR): 18 ECTS credits.
- Master's degree in Automotive Engineering (MUEA): 18 ECTS credits.
- Master's degree in Management Engineering (MUEO): 18 ECTS credits.
- Master's degree in Supply Chain, Transport and Mobility (MLTM): 15 ECTS credits.
- Master's degree in Energy Engineering (MUEE): 15 ECTS credits.
- Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering (MUEN): 15 ECTS credits.
- ETSEIB double master's degrees: 6 ECTS credits.
The ETSEIB assistant director will consider whether the accredited work and professional experience is related to competencies associated with the relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree and determine the number of ECTS credits to be recognised in each case.

How to apply for recognition of credits for work and professional experience

Until in-person service at the SIA resumes, documents must be submitted via the UPC's e-services portal using a general application form, where the person concerned must indicate that they validate their signature on the accompanying documents.
Submit an application for recognition of credits for work and professional experience form together with the required documents.
Documents:
Applications must be accompanied by the following documents:
- An official employment history issued by the relevant government body, confirming the contractual relationship between the student and the company where the professional experience was acquired.
- A document issued by the company certifying the tasks carried out by the student, the period when the work was done and the total number of hours worked.
- The relevant employment contract.
Period:
- Autumn semester: October
- Spring semester: April

How:
Credit recognition decisions may be viewed in the "Applications" section of the e-Secretaria.
Enrolment of credits
How
Once a credit recognition decision has been issued, the SIAE will record the recognised credits on the academic record of the student concerned.
You can check the credit enrolment and find the payment slip for the corresponding fee in the “Forms and payments” section of the e-Secretaria.
Period
Ten days from the date on which notification of the credit recognition decision is given.
Fee
The fee for enrolling the credits may be paid via the e-Secretaria or at any branch of one of the UPC’s collaborating financial institutions (Banco Santander, CaixaBank or Caixa d'Enginyers).
