Recognition or validation of credits taken for university courses of study

NOTICE RE. COVMPORTANT COVID-19

During the health emergency, the Student Information and Support Service (SIAE) will not provide service in person. We will continue working to meet your needs by remote means. You can contact us via our online service DemanaUPC/ETSEIB

During periods when in-person service is not available, any original documents that must be submitted to the SIAE in relation to procedures should be submitted via the UPC's e-servicesportal

General information

When credits obtained for the completion of official university studies are recognised or validated, this means that the UPC has accepted the validity of those credits. Subjects taken abroad are deemed to be validated; those taken in Spain are deemed to be recognised.

Please bear in mind the following:

  • Any subjects included in a degree may be recognised or validated in a formal decision  (with the exception of final theses).
  • Decisions will only be made for the subjects for which a student has requested recognition or validation.
  • Recognition must always consider subjects taken as part of the original degree and never subjects that have previously been validated, adapted or recognised.
  • In no case may bachelor's or master's theses be recognised.
  • In master's degrees, credits may not be recognised for subjects taken for a pre-EHEA bachelor's or first-cycle degree.

Credits that have been recognised or validated count towards meeting requirements for the award of an official degree.
