How to apply for international internships

It's very easy! To apply for international internships, you'll need to follow these steps:

1. International Internship Application

To begin the international internship application process, you must complete the official form, which must be signed by both the student and the company or institution where the internship will take place, and upload it to the ETSEIB Internships and Directed Projects portal. You will need to wait for administrative and academic validation before proceeding to the next step. If the application is denied, you will need to check the reason and, if possible, upload a new application.

2. Training Agreement Signature

Once the internships have been administratively and academically validated, the student must complete the Training Agreement, the contractual document between the student, company, and university, indicating the dates of the stay, duration, hours, and activities to be developed.

The internship agreement, signed by the student and the company, must be sent to the ETSEIB International Relations Office (ORI) for signature by the Deputy Director for Internationalization of the school.

New 2024! As of January 1, 2024, and in accordance with interpretive criterion 3/2024 of the General Directorate of Social Security on the application of additional provision 52a of the consolidated text of the General Social Security Law (TRLSS), university students undertaking international external academic internships within their training programs must be included in social security whenever they are beneficiaries of an Erasmus+ internship grant (SMT) or receive any type of compensation from the company, institution, or host entity for the internships, whether economic or otherwise (not applicable to the UPC-Company program).

3. Creation of the Mobility Stay

Once the Training Agreement is signed by all three parties, the ETSEIB International Relations Office (ORI) will proceed to generate the mobility stay.

The deadline to complete the entire procedure and start the internships is approximately one month before the internship begins.

Once the mobility stay is created, the student must attach the following documentation to e-Secretaria:

Mobility > Mobility Stay > Documentation

Training Agreement with the signature of all three parties: student, company, and deputy director for internationalization.

Mobility Insurance: the mobility stay entails the mandatory contracting of accident, illness, and repatriation insurance that covers the entire period and includes, at a minimum, the following coverages:

      • Medical assistance
      • Accidents
      • Repatriation in case of death
      • Civil liability.

The insurance will be automatically contracted when enrolling for the semester with the company OnCampus Estudia, with the exception of Canada and the United States, which must be contracted directly by the student before starting the internship stay with OnCampus Estudia. In the latter case, the student must upload a copy of the policy to e-Secretaria.

Financial Agreement: if opting for an Erasmus+ KA131 Internship Grant, the student must sign the financial agreement through the Electronic Headquarters. Check the current grant calls here.

4. Enrollment

Once this documentation has been validated, the internship enrollment will proceed. If the start of the internship stay is outside the enrollment period, the International Relations Office (ORI) will proceed with the internship enrollment.

5. Internship Development

During the exchange, the student must provide the following documentation:

Stay Incorporation Certificate: Within a period not exceeding 10 days from the start of the mobility stay, the student must upload the incorporation certificate, signed and stamped by the company, to e-Secretaria in the section “Mobility > Mobility Stay > Documentation”.

Academic tutoring can be followed on the ETSEIB Internships and Directed Projects portal.

Once the mobility stay has ended, the student must provide the following documentation:

Stay Certificate: At the end of the stay, the student must upload the stay certificate, signed and stamped by the company, indicating the start and end dates of the internship, to e-Secretaria in the section “Mobility > Mobility Stay > Documentation”.

Financial Agreement Addendum: if the student has opted for an Erasmus Grant, they must sign the addendum through the Electronic Headquarters.

6. Evaluation of International Internships

To have an internship stay recognized, the student must complete all the steps indicated in the ETSEIB Internships and Directed Projects application once the "follow-up" step has been successfully completed.

Submission of report/memorandum: Students undertaking curricular internships must submit an internship report and defend it in person, according to the academic tutor's instructions.

Company evaluation: The company or institution tutor will receive a link with a questionnaire to evaluate the student during their internship stay.

Recognition: Once the tutor has entered the grade into the international internship evaluation record, the International Relations Office (ORI) will add the qualification to the student's academic record (curricular internships). For extracurricular internships, they will be noted in the European Diploma Supplement (SET)
