Types of External Internship

You must decide the internship modality before starting it. You will not be able to recognize extracurricular internships as curricular internship credits. Nor will you be able to add the TFE to a curricular internship agreement once it has started. You must make the decision about the type of internship when applying for it:

Curricular Internships

Configured as academic activities that are part of the study plan. They have the same consideration as any other university course.

Extracurricular

They have the same training purposes as curricular internships but are not part of the study plan or the academic record, although they will be included in the European Diploma Supplement.
They must be directly related to the contents of the study plan.
The minimum duration cannot be less than 180 hours.

Final Project (TFE)

The TFE can be developed within the framework of external internships.

The training project for the internships and the project for the final project must be consistent.

Internships will be considered curricular and will be supervised by the TFE director.

Consult the information about the TFE in Modality B.

Curricular + TFE

Agreement that includes curricular internships and the TFE within the framework of international internships.

Other types of internships

Educational Cooperation Agreement Processing

1. Internship Job Offer Platform

Access the Internship Job Offer Platform where the companies publish available internship offers.
Register and update your profile.
Find out the internship modality you want to do, and search, among the published offers, those that match your interests to submit your application.
If you find an internship outside the Internship s Job Site, the company must still register the offer in the Internships Job Offer Platform.
Handbook(in catalan) for students about the Internships Job Offer Platform.
Handbook(in catalan) for companies about the Internships Job Offer Platform.

2. Validation of Educational Cooperation Agreement Data

Once the company selects you, the system automatically registers the agreement data related to the agreement in your e-Secretaria, where you will need to access to validate the registered data and/or provide new data in the "Company Internships" section.
- Company tutor
- Type Internship
- NAF ("Seguridad Social" affiliation number)
- Schedule and location of the internship
- Number of hours
- Company order number (if needed)
-Observations
Once data has been completed, application must sent to the centre in order to pass from registrat("registered") to provisional status.
Once it is in provisional status:
1. We will review the data
2. We will assign an academic tutor
3. We will validate the agreement
Once it is in provisional status:
1. We will review the data
2. We will assign an academic tutor
3. We will validate the agreement

3. Training Project

Once the company tutor is designated, the system sends them an email so that, through the company internships portal,  propose the Training Project to be carried out.
Handbook(in catalan) for the company tutor.
Once the UPC tutor validates the Training Project, the agreement can start the signature circuit.

4. Signature of the Cooperation Agreement

First, the legal representative of the host institution will receive the agreement by email, sign it digitally, and return it via the same channel.
Student, you will sign it later, through Portafirmes, using your UPC card number or one of the other recognized digital certificates.
Finally, and also through Portafirmes, the Director of ETSEIB will proceed with the signature.
All parties are informed and receive a copy of the agreement signed by all of them via email.

IMPORTANT! When the Educational cooperation agreements is signed by all parts is when the internship can start, never before.

5. Internship Enrollment

If you have chosen Curricular, TFE (Final Project), or Curricular + TFE type, we will generate a proposed enrolment plan so you can enrol in the corresponding credits on your assigned enrolment day.

IMPORTANT! If the enrollment period has passed, or you have enroled in a course or the TFE, we will modify your official enrolment from the SIAE by adding the credits corresponding to the internships.

If you have chosen the extracurricular modality, the recognition will go directly to the SET (European Diploma Supplement) once the internship has been evaluated.

IMPORTANT! Academic internships can only begin when the educational cooperation agreement is signed by all parties, never before.

6. Internship Monitoring and Evaluation

The company's reception registration, the initial interview with the UPC tutor, and the monitoring and evaluation of the internship is carried out in the new CCE Monitoring and Evaluation application.

These are the steps to follow:

Welcome Registration - The company tutor must fill in the registration (and the student has to validate it) during the first week of the internship by answering positively to:

    • Registration of the student at the Spanish social security.
    • Company's health and safety aspects have been explained.
    • If personal protective equipment is required and provided.
    • The company's health and safety documentation has been provided (by email, welcome meeting, a handbook, link to the company's website where the information is collected, etc.).

If a negative answer is given to any of the questions, it is understood that the conditions to begin the internship are not met and the Educational Cooperation Agreement will be cancelled.

Initial interview (only curricular internship) by the UPC tutor.

 Monitoring by the UPC tutor.

Final evaluation questionnaire of the company.

Final evaluation questionnaire of the student.

Final report submission of the internship.

Oral presentation (only curriculars) and academic evaluation.

Once the evaluation is done, the recognition will be entered in your academic file and will be closed if they are the last credits of the degree.
Educational Cooperation Agreements end when the internship end date is reached or when the academic file is closed and your association with the UPC ends.
In the event of renouncing a curricular internship, these will be evaluated as Not Presented or Failed and the ECTS corresponding to a new Educational Cooperation Agreement will be paid again. The operation is similar to the enrollment and evaluation of any subject.
